El septuagesimoctavo edificio se llamaba Calpulli. Éstas eran unas casas pequeñas de que estaba cercado todo el patio de la parte de adentro. A estas casillas llamaban calpulli. A estas casas se recoxían a ayunar y hacer penitencia cuatro días todos los principales y oficiales de la república las vigilias de las fiestas que caían de veinte en veinte días, de manera que hacían de vigilia cuatro días. En este ayuno unos comían a la medianoche, y otros al medio día.
\nThe seventy-eighth building was called calpolli. These were some small houses that were surrounding the whole patio of the inner part. They called these little houses calpolli. All the nobles and the officers of the republic would retreat to these houses to fast and perform penance for four days, [which served as] the vigil for the festivals that happened every twenty days; so they would keep vigil for four days. During this fast, some would eat at midnight, and others would [eat] at noon.

\nAll the small houses which were around and which surrounded the temples were called calpulli. There was fasting there.
\nAnd only the noblemen, the rulers, the constables, the seasoned warriors fasted there every twenty days.
\n[Of this] it was said: “There is fasting for five [days].”
\nAnd when they fasted, five days hence there would be a feast. And only at the time of the feast did they fast.
\nAnd thus did they fast: they abstained from food. Some ate at noon; [they fasted] until midnight arrived. And for some the time that they ate was midnight; [they fasted] also [until] the time of midday. Just so they went alternating.
\nAnd they fasted for five nights. Not by day but by night. And when it already was night, then they entered [the calpulli]. And when it dawned they went forth; they performed their tasks.
\nThus they did daily; thus five days passed. And not then did they lie with women.
