When anyone was to mold figures [of the mountain gods], this [figure-molder] spoke to [the Epcoaquacuilli Tepictoton], who chose, who summoned the singers, so that they would go to sing in the home of the one who was to mold [mountain-god] figures. Verily, this one, the Epcoaquacuilli Tepictoton, passed judgment on [the songs].
\nThe Keeper of the God at the Temple of Ixtlilton presided over, issued directions, made public announcements [concerning] the gifts, when the small children, whether men [children] or women [children], began to talk. They went carrying their gifts of incense, or flowers, indeed all the gifts that were made. Each of these things they bore with them.
\nThe Keeper of the God Xochipilli at [the Temple of] Aticpac issued directions concerning [the impersonator of the goddess] Aticpaccalqui ciuatl. He assembled the paper, the incense, the [liquid] rubber which the Aticpaccalqui ciuatl [impersonator] required when she died. And they flayed her, and the fire priest put on her skin, and he went holding a [live] quail in his teeth; it went dangling from his mouth.2
